What is a medium?

“A medium is someone who can communicate with people who have passed on or relay messages to those who are still here, in the physical form, if you will.”

What is the difference between a medium and a psychic?

“Technically, I am a psychic medium, but I don’t like the word psychic because then I get the phone calls, book a reading, and then they come here, and it’s ‘Can you tell me about this?’ That’s why I took the word psychic out of the mix completely. You can be a psychic, but not all psychics are mediums.”

How do you say what you are?

“I call myself a medium, I put the spirit before it because most people say, small, medium, large, and don’t know what a medium is, so I put the spiritual aspect in front of it.”

Are you busy?

“Yes, I’m booking about four weeks ahead. I think that’s good.”

How did this start for you?

“When you’re a medium, you don’t go to school for it, you’re either born one or you’re not. Everyone’s born with intuitions and stuff like that, but when I was about 13, I started hearing and seeing things. And prior to that, my great-grandmother was telling my mom throughout my life until she passed when I was 10 that I was special … so she passed when I was 10. When I was 13, I started seeing her, seeing her and hearing her, and I was like, ‘Oh, my God, what’s going on, I’m crazy’… When I was in college, we went to a psychic fair… they were closing up shop, one of the women there who was giving readings got out of her seat and she said, ‘I know we’re closing, but I really need to talk to you.’ The first thing she said was, ‘You know you’re not crazy.’ ”

How long have you been doing this?

“About four years now. I’ve been here since July. I was a teacher, doing it on the side, then I went full time.”

Do you have rules with clients?

“I’ll give you an example… I tell them I don’t want to know anything while you’re here, I don’t want to know a thing. And who comes through may not be who you want to come through, but you know, people are going to come through.”

Are there common requests you get?

“I don’t ask for requests, especially when I get phone calls, the first thing I let my clients know is please don’t tell me anything. And at the end of our reading, if there are any questions they have to ask to whomever came through, I’ll allot them time to do that, and at the end of the reading, we discuss the purpose of them being here. It’s really to find out if somebody who has passed is OK. But that’s not good enough for me. You could say, yeah, they’re OK. How do I know you’re for real? What I really pride myself in my readings is giving someone information that only they would know, and to them that’s validating that, yes, they are OK.”

How many readings do you do a day?

“For a day with readings, I do no more than three a day, but I might go to a group reading where there are 12 readings that day.”

Is there a set time you spend with people?

“It’s usually half an hour, an hour.”

How do you handle skeptics?

“I had a male and female come, and right away you could see the man was here for her. I told him I could tell right off the bat he didn’t want to be here. That’s fine. You can’t force it down someone’s throat. I gave him information where at the end he said, ‘I don’t know how you knew that, but that’s still not for me.’ And that’s not for him.”

Do you do research on people before they come?

“No. When people call me, I just ask for their first name and contact information via email or phone number, and they could give me their mom’s phone number in California or something.”

Do you need a certain environment to do a reading?

“Before every reading, I make my environment. I do my meditation and just get myself in a relaxed state, practice my psychic self-defense techniques — that’s what they call them — where you don’t allow unnecessary or unwanted energies or spirits, if you want to call them that.”

Do you have repeat customers?

“Yes. With repeat customers, I will not see them if it has not been more than six months. Because you have to let life happen.”

What does your husband think of what you do?

“He loves it. We were friends for five years before we started dating. For some reason, right away I told him what I was able to do, and wouldn’t have even told my best friend at that point. His mom had passed, so I would do readings with him, practice readings if you will, way back then.”

Is there anyone you don’t recommend seeing a medium?

“You have to be ready to see a medium. Let’s say someone recently lost a child a week ago. I don’t suggest going to see a medium right away. Give yourself time to get to the point where you’re OK. And whenever you see a psychic, a medium, any reader, if they’re asking questions, you’re not in the right place. You’re supposed to sit there. They’re supposed to give you the information.”

While every artist would claim to derive inspiration from the world of nature and from life generally, Liana when she paints or draws is able to work with higher forces, tuning into other hidden dimensions of time and space to which most of us are rarely aware.

Curses work in a similar manner. If you curse a person and he believes he is cursed, it will have its desired affect. But if he doesn’t believe it, the curse will not have an effect on him, unless this is accompanied by a powerful ritual intended to overcome his mental resistance to it. I’ve heard and read that there are some sorcerers in Haiti and in our own Siquijor Island who have the power to make a person ill at a distance through black magic.

So, there must be something to this matter of curses, even in our so-called modern scientific world. And if already a victim of a curse, how can one free himself or herself from it? By breaking the psychic connection between the sorcerer and the victim. There are psychics who can do this and who can return the curse to its originator or source. As reported by wkyt.com, family turns to psychic in their search for answers, after a A fire killed their brother and father four years ago. Now a Laurel County family is asking a psychic for help.

The family of Herbert and Herbie Brewer have spent the last four years looking for answers.

They say they’ve never believed the fire that killed their loved ones was accidental.

And now, thanks to a psychic, they hope to find closure.

“We’ve known all along that they didn’t die in that fire without somebody hurting them first,” said Irene Ballinger who lost her brother and father in the fire.

POLICE medium Debbie Malone has revealed she does not believe ghosts photographed at St Mark’s Anglican cemetery in January were “real”.

Port Macquarie resident Renee English’s photo of two alleged ghost children created international headlines after it was taken during a Picton ghost tour on January 9.

But Mrs Malone said ghost photographs did not generally feature such well-formed figures.

“Photographed spirit energies generally tend to be in the form of an orb or ectoplasm, which looks like a fog,” she said.

“I’ve seen the photos, but I’m very sceptical.”

But Mrs Malone insisted Picton was “crawling” with ghosts, which she believes is due to the town’s age and heritage atmosphere.

“I think a lot of (spirits) from the early days are proud of what they achieved and don’t want to go,” she said.

“There have been a lot of accidents on roads out that way and I think it is like a gateway.”

Mrs Malone recalls one terrifying experience while driving home from a ghost tour on Friday the 13th some years ago.

“I was driving home and two alsation dogs came on to the road and ran in front of the car. I swerved to miss them, but when I stopped, there were no dogs at all,” she said.

“On the bridge further up the road, I saw a man standing on the road and he jumped on the bonnet of my car and came onto the windscreen.”

Mrs Malone is heading to Picton for an all day seminar followed by an evening of ghost tours on Saturday.

Five years ago residents of East Bridgewater captured a picture with over 50 faces looking out of the closed-for-the-evening antique shop called Mrs. Swift & Moore Antiques.

The girls went back to the store the following day and showed the owner, Lorrie Parker, a Hanson resident, the ghostly images they captured on their camera. The antique shop is located in an old Masonic building that was built in 1892.

Since then, Parker has joined forces with seven other local people and formed the Massachusetts Area Paranormal Society.

The co-founders of the society are Crystal Nye and Rick Houlker. Lead investigator Wayne Nye, a genealogist, researches the history of the buildings and houses before the team does an investigation. Parker says each member offers something different to the team.

After lining up an investigation, the team goes through the three R’s, which are research, respecting the property and then coming up with results.

She added that they all enjoy what they do and love to question the energy emanating from investigated sites.

The team recently completed two investigations in Whitman. On March 13, the team investigated the former Carroll Bump Funeral Home. During Nye’s investigation he discovered that the building had been two different funerals homes and then a church rectory. It is now an apartment building.

The team brought in international psychic medium Dawn Carr to work with them on the Carroll Bump Funeral Home case. Carr came to the investigations with no knowledge or history of the buildings. Parker said Carr often comes up with names and events associated with the building. During their investigation, Carr said she could see a scruffy man walking back and forth. As she was describing the man, an Electronic Voice Phenomenon recorder, which disembodies voices that the ear can’t hear, was able to catch a man’s gravelly voice saying, “back and forth.” The voice was also heard on the audio portion of the video surveillance as well as the EVP.

When the team went into the former viewing parlor, where the deceased were laid out, they were able to smell flowers.

The second investigation in Whitman was in a undisclosed residence. The resident of the home had reported 30 years of activity and said it had been escalating recently. The team deemed it necessary to notify a New England Abnormalities researcher to come in and do a cleansing of the house, which involves prayer.

Parker said the homeowner couldn’t sleep at night because of the escalating activity.

In the home, the team was able to record 10 EVPs and also saw a black figure go by. A surveillance camera was set up on the first floor, and with no one on the second floor, a closet door opened. A team member went upstairs and shut the closet door and the door opened once again.

“The house did have a lot of activity,” Parker said. “When we opened a certain room or closet door, you got a feeling of heaviness.”

The psychic medium said there was a vortex (a doorway spirits come in and out) inside the building.

“She did sense a younger man with negative energy in the attic, who was mad because he passed before his time,” Parker said.

Carr said the man’s name began with a P. Nye’s research proved that the original owner of the building from 1892-1921 was named Preston Barker.

These two investigations were presented by Nye at the Whitman Historical Society meeting on April 7. They have also been guests at the Whitman Mothers’ Club.

Rather than feeling sorry for yourself and spiraling down into a dark night of the soul, try this: Imagine that you’re a resourceful hermit who’s temporarily under house arrest in an elegant chalet with all the amenities. Regard this “incarceration” as a chance to start work on a masterpiece, or upgrade your meditation practice, or read a book you’ve needed an excuse to lose yourself in. Believe it or not, your “deprivation” could be one of the best things that has happened to you in a while.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22): I won’t be surprised if people begin to compete for your attention. There may even be some pushing and shoving as they jostle to get closer to you. At the very least, you can expect a flurry of requests for your time and energy. What’s this all about? Well, your worth seems to be rising. Either your usefulness is flat-out increasing or else those who’ve underestimated you in the past are finally tuning in to what they’ve been missing. So here’s my question and concern: Will you get so seduced by what everyone asks you to give them that you lose sight of what you really want to give them? I suspect there will be a difference.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): I’m not saying that you should create a superhero identity for yourself and embark on a campaign to combat injustice. But if you’ve ever wondered whether the life of a costumed crusader is right for you, it’s an excellent time to experiment. Your courage will be expanding in the coming weeks. LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): All 26 of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ stories about Tarzan are set in Africa, but he never once visited that continent. And Bram Stoker didn’t feel the need to travel to the Transylvanian region of Romania in order to write about it in his novel Dracula. But I don’t recommend this approach to you in the coming weeks, Libra. If you want to cultivate something new in your life by drawing on an exotic influence, I think you should immerse yourself in that exotic influence, at least for a while. If you want to tap into the inspiration available through an unfamiliar source, you need to actually be in the presence of that unfamiliar source.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Why would you choose this bright, sunny moment to descend into the dark places and explore the fermenting mysteries? What renegade impulse would move you to turn away from the predictable pleasures and easy solutions, and instead go off in quest of more complex joys and wilder answers? Here’s what I have to say about that: I think you long to be free of transitory wishes and fleeting dreams for a while so that you can get back into alignment with your deeper purposes. You need to take a break from the simple obsessions of your grayish, poker-faced ego, and re-attune yourself to the call of your freaky, evergreen soul.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Sufi holy man Ibn ‘Ata Allah was speaking about prayer when he said the following: “If you make intense supplication and the timing of the answer is delayed, do not despair of it. His reply to you is guaranteed; but in the way He chooses, not the way you choose, and at the moment He desires, not the moment you desire.” While I don’t claim to be able to perfectly decipher the will of the divine, my astrological research suggests that you will soon get a definitive answer to a question you’ve been asking for a long time. It may come softly and quietly, though, and from a direction you don’t expect, and with a nuance or two that’ll test your reflexes.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): “Is Fast Food Too Tempting?” read a headline in The Week magazine. The accompanying article discussed whether people have the right to blame and even sue McDonald’s and Burger King for their health problems. In my opinion, we might as well add other allegedly appealing poisons to the discussion. “Is heroin too tempting?” “Is cheating on your lover or spouse too tempting?” “Is watching TV five hours a day too tempting?” I hope you’re seeing where I’m going with this, Capricorn. The coming weeks will be a good time to take personal responsibility for any supposedly fun activity you’re doing that warps your character or saps your energy. It’s prime time to end your relationship with stuff that’s bad for you.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): “The mind loves order, the heart loves chaos, and the gut loves action,” says my astrological colleague Antero Alli. The ideal situation is to honor each of these needs, keeping them in a dynamic balance. But now and then, it’s healthy to emphasize one over the other two. According to my astrological analysis, you’re entering one of those times when the heart’s longing for chaos should get top priority. But if you do choose to go this way, please promise me one thing: Do your best to tilt toward the fascinating, rejuvenating kind of chaos and tilt away from the disorienting, demoralizing kind.

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): When people are truly dehydrated, the impulse that tells them they’re thirsty shuts down. That’s why they may not know they’re suffering from a lack of water. In a metaphorically similar way, Pisces, you have been deprived so long of a certain kind of emotional sustenance that you don’t realize what you’re missing. See if you can find out what it is, and then make measured (non-desperate!) plans to get a big, strong influx of it. The cosmic rhythms will be on your side in this effort!
